How do we enroll?

To get started, call our school office today at 619-297-1314 or email our Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Lisa Cross at lcross@stpatricksd.org to schedule a tour with Mr. Valdivia, Principal. Enrollment is simple! We encourage prospective students to participate in a full shadow day with us to experience a typical day in the life of a St. Patrick School student. Mrs. Cross will provide you with all the necessary information enrollment papers to make your child an official student at St. Patrick School.

How do St. Patrick students' test scores compare to students in public and other Catholic schools?

Every year, our students consistently achieve above the national average in both Math and Reading in STAR assessments. At St. Patrick School, we track each student’s academic growth annually, and on average, our students demonstrate a 1.5-year growth for every year of instruction. It’s important to note that the Diocese of San Diego does not rank schools based on test scores. We conduct 3 STAR Tests throughout the year; September, January, and in May.

Where do your graduates go to high school?

The majority of our graduates go on to attend prestigious local Catholic High Schools such as Saint Augustine High School, Our Lady of Peace Academy, Cathedral Catholic High School, and Mater Dei Catholic High School. Over the past decade, 22 of our students have earned merit-based scholarships at these institutions. Furthermore, our 8th graders boast an impressive 99% acceptance rate to Catholic High Schools upon graduation.

Do you have mandatory fundraising?

We do not require parents to participate in fundraising activities. Throughout the year, we organize four major fundraising events: the Fall Festival, Shamrock Fun Run, Gala, and our Shamrock Golf Tournament. Additionally, individual classes may conduct fundraisers for specific purposes such as camps, retreats, and special events. However, parental participation in fundraising activities is entirely voluntary and not mandated.

Are parents required to do service hours?

Yes, families are required to contribute 25 service hours to the school. Of these hours, twelve must be completed during the Fall Festival. There are various opportunities for parents and caregivers to fulfill their service hour commitment, including volunteering in classrooms, serving as drivers or chaperones for field trips, assisting with school or class events, and participating on committees. Parents are responsible for logging their service hours into Gradelink.

How do you pay your tuition?

Families are billed through FACTS. Each month you will receive an invoice with the amount due. Auto-pay is available, set it and forget it!

Do you incorporate the common core state standards into your curriculum scheme?

St. Patrick School adheres to the curriculum guidelines established by the Diocese of San Diego. Our curriculum is aligned with both the Common Core State Standards and the Diocesan Curriculum guidelines. As a Catholic school, we integrate Catholic values throughout all facets of our educational program.

Are you an accredited school?

The Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accredited St. Patrick School.

What is your average class size?

At St. Patrick School, we prioritize small class sizes to enhance the learning experience for our students:

  • Kindergarten through 2nd grade classes typically have about 10 students each.
  • Grades 3 through 5 have an average of 18 students per class.
  • Classes in grades 6 through 8 have approximately 25 students.

These small class sizes enable our teachers to provide a more personalized and individualized approach to education. We recognize that students learn in diverse ways—whether through varied instructional methods, additional time, or different explanations—and our teachers are equipped to cater to these unique learning needs.

Are your teachers credentialed?

Yes, classroom teachers possess a California Teaching Credential.

Do you have much staff turnover?

At St. Patrick School, we maintain a healthy balance between experienced and new teachers. Our staff’s average tenure is 12 years, reflecting our commitment to a stable and knowledgeable faculty.

Do you have before and after school care?

Yes, St. Patrick School offers extended care services for all registered students. Our before-school care runs from 7am to 8am, and after-school care begins at 3pm and concludes at 6pm.

Our extended care program is structured to give students the flexibility to choose how they spend their time. They can engage in activities such as board games, reading, completing homework, playing basketball, soccer, kickball, and occasionally enjoying a movie. At 4:15pm, a fun snack is provided for all participants.

Our daycare program is designed to be flexible and affordable, with no waiting list. Parents pay as they go at a rate of $6 per hour, ensuring accessibility for families seeking reliable after-school care.
