80 Years of Educating Mind, Body, and Spirit: Celebrating St. Patrick School’s Legacy

“We are a Catholic School. We teach students about understanding and enjoying faith. We also teach them to live their faith. Concepts like love, community, reconciliation, responsibility for self and others, generosity, tolerance and social justice are an integral part of our curriculum. More importantly, these values are observable every day in the interactions and attitudes among teachers, parents and students.” – Principal Hernan Valdivia

About St Patrick

ESTABLISHED ROOTS

The considerable growth of North Park following World War I created a need for an additional Catholic parish. The diocese appointed Father Gregory Ashe to the new St. Patrick’s Parish in 1921. A parish hall and rectory were completed the following year. On February 5, 1922, the first Mass was held in the Parish Hall. The Hall housed services until St. Patrick’s Church was completed in 1929. At the time, it was considered one of the most beautiful churches in Southern California.

St. Patrick School was then established in 1944 and has since been providing a high-quality Catholic education for its students. The school is accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association and The Western Association of Schools and Colleges. St. Patrick School provides a high-quality Catholic elementary education for all students entrusted to our care, developing every aspect of the child: mind, body, and spirit. We support parents as primary educators of their children. We are called to spread the Gospel message of love, unity and reconciliation. Essential to our mission is building a relationship with Jesus and one another. St. Patrick School is a vital part of our parish community and is enriched by the presence and ministry of the Augustinian Order. Their values of truth, community, and love guide us in the fulfillment of our mission.

“St. Patrick School does more than prepare our students for tests in the classroom – we prepare them for tests in life. At St. Patrick School, our school is a place where high academic standards meet high moral standards. We are a school where the values of respect and compassion are not only encouraged; they are expected. We are “like family.””
